G2 Computing: What You Need to Know (2026)

From 2026, Computing is offered as an elective to all upper secondary students in Singapore—not only Express. G2 Computing is the level for students taking mainly Normal (Academic) subjects. This guide explains who it's for, how it differs from G3 (O-Level 7155), and how to prepare.

Who Is G2 Computing For?

G1 — Normal (Technical); replaces Computer Applications (CPA); includes cloud computing and emerging tech (e.g. AI).
G2 — Normal (Academic); new content: physical computing (e.g. microcontrollers), data analysis, problem-solving; "useful in everyday life".
G3 — Express; equivalent to O-Level Computing (Syllabus 7155); same exam and format as current O-Level.

If your child is taking mainly G2 subjects (Normal Academic), G2 Computing is the elective that matches their level. Content depth and complexity increase from G1 → G2 → G3.
